31. Kbal Chhai Waterfalls

Located at Khna Prey Nup, at 7 kilometers from the Sihanouk Ville Town, the waterfall can be reached by veering left off the main road for 7 kilometers via a red soil road. The waterfall of Kbal Chhay has many sources from the mountain range at the seaside. The history of the Kbal Chhay waterfall began in 1960. Until 1963 Kbal Chhay was the clean waters source for Sihanouk Ville, but the arrangement was disrupted because it was hiding place for the Khmer Rouge. In 1997, Kbal Chhay was named a developing zone. In 1998 Kbal Chhay was taken up for bid by the Kok An Company for building roads and developing a resort for local and international tourists. Today, the Royal Government of Cambodia has restored this site as a clean-water source for providing clean water to Sihanouk Ville.
