16. Tonle Bati Temple
Tonle Bati is located at the Thnol Tak Sin Village, in the Krang Thnung Commune, in the Ba Ti District of the Takeo province 35.5 kilometers from Phnom Penh, accessible by a two Kilometers trail off the main road. Tonle Bati is a large place of worship having two ancient temples namely: the Ta Prum Temple; which was built in the 12th century and at the beginning of 13th century (1181-1201) during the reign of King Jayavarman VII, dedicated to Brahmanism and Buddhism. The temple is made of sandstone and laterite stone, surrounded by walls, and has protruding sculptures, which describe celestial mythology in the story of Brahmanism. In the temple has five compartments; containing two 13th century statue that are located in front of the figure of Krudand facing the East. In addition, there is a beautiful sculpture in front and on the Sar Sar Pich (column) of the temple. Chiso Mountain is the historical site of the Takeo province; its ancient temple being an important cultural heritage.
